Coffee Machine Repairs

Home espresso machines, bean-to-cup machines and capsule machines. When your coffee comes out lukewarm, weak or not at all, we find the cause and repair it.

About this service

How we approach coffee machine repairs

Most coffee machines work the same way underneath: a pump pushes water from the tank through a heater (a boiler or thermoblock), and valves send it either to the brew group or to the steam wand. Bean-to-cup machines add a grinder and an automatic brewing unit.

Limescale is one of the most common causes of trouble. Over time it narrows water paths, slows the flow and insulates the heater, so coffee comes out slower and cooler. A machine that’s pumping but not delivering water can also point to a blocked valve, a worn pump or an airlock.

We check the water path, heating and controls step by step, and explain whether a clean, descale or part replacement is needed before any work goes ahead.

Common problems

Coffee machine faults we see most often

The symptom points us in the right direction — testing confirms the cause.

  • 01

    Coffee not hot enough

Scale build-up on the heater, a failing heating element or thermoblock, or a faulty thermostat or temperature sensor.

  • 02

    Weak flow or no water

Scale blocking the water path, an empty or badly seated tank, an airlock, a blocked valve or a worn pump.

  • 03

    Leaking water

Worn seals or gaskets, a cracked tank or drip tray, or loose internal hoses.

  • 04

    Grinder not working

Beans jammed in the burrs, a foreign object in the grinder, or a motor fault.

  • 05

Steam wand weak or not steaming

A blocked steam tip from dried milk, scale in the steam circuit, or a heating or valve fault.

  • 06

Won’t switch on or shows errors

A power, switch or control-board fault, or a sensor reporting a problem — note the error message for us.

Before you book

Unplug the machine and let it cool. Check the water tank is filled and seated properly, empty the drip tray and grounds container, and clear dried milk from the steam tip. If it’s overdue a descale, follow your manual — many manufacturers advise using their recommended descaler.

The repair process

What happens when we repair your coffee machine

  1. Check the symptoms

Where it’s safe to run, we watch a test brew and steam cycle and note any error messages.

  2. Inspect the water path

Tank, pump, valves and pipework are checked for blockages, scale and leaks.

  3. Test heating and controls

Heating element or thermoblock, thermostat, sensors and switches are tested.

  4. Explain and quote

You approve the repair and price before any parts are fitted.

  5. Repair and test brew

We run the machine to confirm it heats, pumps and stays dry.

FAQ

Coffee machine repairs: your questions answered

Still unsure? Send us the details or a WhatsApp with a photo of the problem.

It depends on how hard your water is and how often you use the machine. Many machines show a descale reminder — follow that and the instructions in your manual.

Check your manual first. Many manufacturers advise against vinegar and recommend their own descaling product, as some cleaners can damage seals or leave a taste.

Scale on the heater is a common cause, as is a failing heating element, thermoblock or thermostat. Preheating your cup also helps.

This service is aimed at household coffee machines. If you have a commercial machine, contact us first to check whether we can help.
